Filipa César

Filipa César (PT/DE) is an artist and filmmaker interested in the fictional aspects of the documentary genre. She bridges contemporary and historical disourses in her multiform works, which reflect the porous borders between cinema and its reception, as well as the politics and poetics inherent to the moving image and imaging technologies. In Filipa César’s work, the image evolves out of a struggle between real-memory and cinema-memory. Since 2011, she has been researching on the liberation of Guineau-Bissau in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as Portuguese colonialism. She holds a MA degree in Art in Context from the University of Arts, Berlin. Her works have been displayed in various exhibitions, screenings, and festivals in Europe and Latin America.
