A video by KONTEJNER in Zagreb that highlights the thinking and process behind Factory of Sound, an educational programme on improvised music for children.
KONTEJNER runs an educational project for the youngest (8-11 year olds) musicians of the future. This project, named Factory of Sound, is led by electronic musician, composer and teacher Nenad Sinkauz, together with percussionist, composer and teacher Nenad Kovačić. They teach the children the art of improvisation through the use of their own voice, body and audio equipment like microphones, effects, synthesizers and other devices.
In Factory of the Sound, music is produced with the use of these devices, live sampling, voice modulation, and body percussion, but above all, through playing together. This allows the junior improvisation ensemble to reach a certain kind of ‘instant composition’ at a level appropriate to their age, perception, and knowledge about music.
In the video Nenad Sinkauz, Nenad Kovačić and some participants talk about their experiences in the workshop.
The workshop Factory of Sound and this video have been produced by KONTEJNER, as part of Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
