NEXTalks 2020: Matthew Biederman & Pierce Warnecke

The Somnifacient Signals project was created during the first pandemic measures and responds to the possibility of connecting with the audience at the time of the lockdown. The Canadian-American duo Pierce Warnecke and Matthew Biederman process broadcasts from live webcams located in various places around the world in real time, which, together with audience reactions in the chat, are subsequently sampled and composed into collages. In an audiovisual performance, a virtual train journey, a city center, a nature reserve, a cat shelter or a chat room can meet with an unplanned attendance of the meeting via ZOOM.
