The Body of Sound is the third event in Spektrum’s Sonic Vibrations Series. This time the focus is on familiarizing the audience with bodily forms of music, through an introductory lecture followed by performances by Marco Donnarumma and Tomomi Adachi.

In The Body of Sound, the paradigm of comprehending this matter is literally reversed. Why not the sound of body? Involving their body as a part of the musical instrument, the invited artists, are far from just sonifying their body movements. They are struggling in order to access the vibrational essence of their work through a bodily form, shaping their movement to achieve the physicality of sound by including the totality of their body. The primordial and deep physical presence of the body is disassembled, ritualized, rethought. This event includes a background lecture on the topic of bodily music, which both activates knowledge of new technological possibilities (such as the Xth-sense and the 3D-printed work of Tomomi Adachi) as well as increases the digital literacy of audience.
