WebsiteFacebook event 1Facebook event 2Spektrum’s two-day event “The Materiality of Sound”, presents projects that explicitly look at the relation between physicality and sound. They closely examine the ways in which the physical world can offer new forms of listening, and can reveal pervasive vibrational forces. In his project Laser Bugging, Andrey Smirnov monitors what is normally inaudible using a variety of reflective media, like liquids, bubbles and foil. In live performance Phantasmata, xname passes artificial light and other electromagnetic frequencies through home-made micro-oscillators to generate soundwaves. The event intends to explore the ways in which the interconnectivity between multiple domains in the same space can be made perceptible.
