WebsiteThe 3-day workshop on disruptive technologies Speculation as Interface teaches individuals from diverse groups – both with and without technical knowledge – to work with tactical media by appropriating (DIY) technological tools.
Participants use detectors to translate the architecture of wireless communication into sound, and develop tools to explore, control and disrupt local signals and devices within their vicinity. Using these tactical media the participants instigate and discuss alternative ways of creating communities, responding to the social and political changes in our society. In doing so the participants deepen their experience of working with artistic methods and develop their technological skills and knowledge. This empowers them to become change-makers in their own right. The workshop leads to a commissioned work by Mario de Vega & Mazón Gardoqui and consequently increases transnational working opportunities for artists.
