Jean-Luc Nancy

Jean-Luc Nancy (FR) is a philosopher. He is the Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel Chair and a professor of philosophy at The European Graduate School. Since the 1970s, he was a professor at the Université des Sciences Humaines in Strasbourg (until 2002), and has been a guest professor at numerous universities in Europe and the United States. His research is very diverse: his texts–most of which enter into close dialogue with the work of other thinkers such as Derrida, Lacan, Bataille, Heidegger, and Hegel–discuss topics like the question of community, the nature of the political, German Romanticism, psychoanalysis, literature, technology, and hermeneutics. They also include frequent references to the body/its status as a cultural and historical construct, identity, religion, and artistic creation.
