Stephan Mathieu
Stephan Mathieu (DE) is a self taught composer, performer, and installation artist, working in the field of electroacoustic music. His sound is largely based on early instruments, environmental recordings, and obsolete media, which are recorded and transformed by means of experimental microphony, re-editing techniques, and dedicated software processes. Since 1992, he performed his music live in solo shows, festivals, and created various audio installations in various places beyond galleries and museums. Mathieu taught Digital Arts and Theory at the HBKSaar University of Art and Design in Saarbrücken and was a guest lecturer at the Royal Academy of Arts in Göteborg, the Bauhaus University Weimar and the Merz-Akademie in Stuttgart between 2000 and 2005. Today he operates Schwebung Mastering, a high end mastering studio specialized in audio for analog and digital products, and the restoration of archival material.
