Maia Urstad (NO) is an artist, co-founder of Lydgalleriet Bergen, and member of the international sound art collective Freq_out. She works with sound experimentation, and situates her work on the intersection of audio and visual art. She is known to use portable radios–both to transmit sound and as sculptural objects–as a commentary of current technology’s temporary nature. She was educated at Bergen National Academy of the Arts, and has been active in the Norwegian and international contemporary art scene since 1987.
