A former accounting office becomes a space of uncertain purpose holding reminiscences of a lounge room or teambuilding space. Here, an unachievable team spirit sometimes shifts into a haunting corporate spookβ¦ Handmade artefacts, created using cheap materials normally used for packaging and shipping, resembling corporate or festive symbols, turn into hints of longing, care, emptiness and exploitation. EglΔ RuibytΔβs site-specific installation Team Spirits was conceived for πΉπΎπππΆππππΎππ πΉπππΆππ, πΉπΎππππ πππΉ πππΆππ, the final show of the 11th edition ofΒ Rupertβs Alternative Education Programme.
EglΔ RuibytΔ (LT) is a visual artist and graphic designer who is longing for meaning in particularly standardised global processes. She graduated in Graphic Art at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts and in Typography, and Sculpture at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts. Delving into the technologies of industrial labour and searching for functional metaphors, she constructs mass-produced-looking objects partly by means of manual work. In this way, she leaves deliberate space for errors that speak of humanness within the limits of an industrial machine.
