Borealis 2025

The exquisite Norwegian festival is set to take over the stages, pools and mountain tops of Bergen from 12 – 16 March 2025.
Announced acts:
Borealis has commissioned six brand new projects that you’ll see for the first time at Borealis 2025. Opera from Tze Yeung Ho dvelving into the life of the Qing Dynasty’s controversial Dowager Empress Cixi, musical theatre with homemade instruments and a new twist on English folk music tradition from Bastard Assignments, a major commission for the BIT20 Ensemble by exceptional South Korean cellist and composer Okkyung Lee, two new works for the Norwegian Naval Forces Band from Sami composer Herborg Rundberg and british saxophonist Jason Yarde, an in-depth journey through sound from Sondre Närva Pettersen exploring the politics of Norwegianisation and language, and hard-hitting sound for voice and electronics from Palestinian rapper, DJ and producer Dakn داكن. In the framework of Re-Imagine Europe, Borealis presents two activities:
World premiere of chamber opera Nara by composer Tze Yeung-Ho.
Tuomas Toivonen – Sonic Sauna, a collaboration between Laugaren and Borealis.
