Exhibition

Dissent Machines. From Social Forum to Climate Justice is a double solo show by Marcelo Expósito (Spain, 1966) and Oliver Ressler (Austria, 1970). The exhibition, curated by Marco Scotini, returns to an investigation of the relationship between the claim for climate justice and radical criticism of neoliberalism within a choral and collective perspective.

Both filmmakers and authors of text-based works, Marcelo Expósito and Oliver Ressler are amongst the exponents of the relationship between art and activism that, since the start of the millennium, have been creating imaginaries, new forms of subjectivity and possibilities for living, generating aesthetic models as well as political and social forces all over the world. The exhibition Dissent Machines. From Social Forum to Climate Justice collects several works produced by the artists in between 2004 and 2022 and three new productions: Oliver Ressler Property Will Cost Us the Earth / La proprietà ci costerà la terra (2023), Marcelo Expósito, Perché il naufragio non avvenga / So that the Shipwreck Does Not Occur (2023), Marcelo Expósito, Erbario della differenza italiana / Herbarium of the italian difference, (2023).

Starting out from the testimonies from the movements that prematurely evidenced the oppressive nature of globalization, Dissent Machines arises awareness on the importance of anti-globalization battles and forms of mobilization that aim to defend both the earth and social justice.
