Knut Cordsen – History and Future of Activism
Elevate festival’s first day in the discourse programm is kicking off with a thought-provoking keynote by journalist Knut Cordsen. As a cultural editor, political scientist, and sociologist, Knut will ask the tough question: just how much activism can our society handle?
Cordsen places today’s activism – from Fridays for Future to Greenpeace – in a historical context. Based on his book, The Do-gooders, he shows how activists can learn from the past and what appropriations of activism there have been and continue to be from the state. Cordsen’s talk will show strategies for creating change and a deeper understanding of the art of engaging others in the pursuit of social change.
How can activism be successful in creating change? What are the limits of activism?
