Ana Horvat is a composer and musician (b. 1985). She graduated in electronic composition from the Academy of Music in Zagreb where she studied under Zlatko Tanodi. She also studied composition with Marko Ruždjak and Srđan Dedić. In 2012, she was granted the scholarship for young composers given by the Croatian Composers’ Society and the Rudolf and Margita Matz Foundation.

As a composer, she is particularly interested in bringing together different areas of art and has been regularly collaborating with other artists, developers, robotics developers, hackers as well as DIY (do-it-yourself) and DIWO (do-it-with-others) enthusiasts since college. She shares experience thus gained with fellow composers as part of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) exchange programme. She is a member of the Association for Development of ‘do-it-yourself’ Culture Radiona / Zagreb Makerspace, which aims to link various fields of art, science and technology, and of the audio collective MMessy Oscillators, whose work is based on research on sound, making DIY electronic instruments and live performances of electronic music. Ana Horvat writes acoustic and electro-acoustic compositions, music for installations, film and performances, and is coauthor of several art installations.
