Barbara De Ponti

Barbara De Ponti (Milan, 1975) is an artist and researcher, teaches Contemporary Art History and Design Anthropology at several academies in Milan.

Her research, which draws on archival resources, extensive historical and scientific studies, and collaborations with various professionals, focuses on the relationships between artistic practice and geographical knowledge. This process of layering geography, anthropology, history, and landscape architecture has given rise to relational devices displayed in exhibitions and featured in projects hosted by national and international institutions. She takes part in numerous artist residencies, such as the experience carried out in Palermo on the occasion of Manifesta12 (2018) which initiated the dialogue with the Herbarium, the archive of the Botanical Garden of the University of Palermo, for the project It’s Time to Sprout proposed in Casino Palermo by Viasaterna (Milan) and exhibited in Portraits in a Convex Mirror, the reopening exhibition of the Pini Foundation.
