Giovanni Di Domenico
Born in Rome in 1977, pianist and composer Giovanni Di Domenico spent his early years in Africa and was self-taught in music until the age of 24, when he later studied jazz piano at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
Founder of the Silent Water label, Di Domenico has collaborated with artists such as Jim O’Rourke and Akira Sakata. His style in contemporary minimalism features repetition and nuanced changes, creating a contemplative atmosphere that blends non-Western traditions with influences like Debussy and Cecil Taylor. His compositions evoke imagery of deserted streets and introspective journeys.
In the always mesmerizing Capela Imaculada, Semibreve will have the pleasure of witnessing the world premiere of Giovanni Di Domenico’s new solo piece, “Nachleben”.
