Lauri Love

Lauri Love

Lauri Love is a British activist who was previously charged by the United States for his alleged activities with the hacker collective Anonymous. Love’s case has been cited as precedent in the Julian Assange extradition proceeding.

He is a Security Engineer and activist based in the UK. In 2018, he successfully fended off the prospect of 100 years in the US prison system for his alleged involvement in the online activism of Anonymous. That landmark appeal ruling has proven a critical precedent in subsequent high profile extradition cases. He played a prominent role in the student and Occupy movements in Glasgow during 2011-12. Love is being recognised as an expert on hacking, surveillance and privacy issues in the UK and has made a principled stand against the country’s forced decryption laws.
