Senyawa – video interview with A4
Indonesian project Senyawa, pushing the boundaries of the tradition of ethnic and experimental music, now for the first time in Slovakia. Both energetic and mystical folk-metal cargo, the hypnotic fusion of cultural heritage with the visionary application of self-made bamboo instruments has long attracted attention around the world. They have earned critical acclaim from authorities such as Rolling Stone and Electronic Beats, as well as the Ars Electronica festival. Imagine Hun-Huur-Tu’s guttural vocals crossed with Swans-like “guitar” riffs, but seasoned in collaborations with world stage aces like Stephen O’Malley, Damo Suzuki, Keiji Haino and Melt Banana. SENYAWA – X + (Wukir Suryadi feat. Xhabarabot) is a special set that presents Senyawa in a different version, as a collaboration between the organic and the synthetic. A set that will be performed without the presence of Rully Shabara. Senyawa – X establishes a direct connection between human interaction, the raw materials of nature, and the digital world. It prompts reflection on humanity’s role within nature and our digital extensions; a tangible expression of how we amplify our natural abilities using technology.
