Alina Schmuch presents a video installation by the river Neris, combining views on groundwater, hydrogeology, and bathing architectures. In collaboration with scientists, she reveals our physical and ecological ties to the water beneath our feet.

Working with photography and film, Schmuch explores the intersection of visual media and reality through artist books and installations. Her work has been shown at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Akademie der Künste Berlin, MAK Center in Los Angeles, and the 15th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. Recently, she participated in Hydromedia, an artistic research program on water’s role in our lives, and is now part of BPA// Berlin program for artists.

The work she will present was commissioned by Sonic Acts and Rupert for the joint research and production residency ALTERLIFE. ALTERLIFE is part of New Perspectives for Action, a project by Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the European Union. Rupert’s participation is additionally supported by the Lithuanian Culture Institute.
