I would rather be a cyborg than a goddess is a project by female art collective Ljubavnice (‘mistresses’) consisting of six young artists, who start the creation of their seventh member – an artificial identity.

To build their seventh member, Ljubavnice input verbal and textual information into a database, creating an archive of gathered data from their surrounding environment. The materials gathered through their research form the Seventh’s fragile identity, which gradually attempts to communicate with the surroundings of the real and the virtual. Combining poetic input from Ljubavnice with the use of computational programming, the work engages the senses and bends our perception. Commissioned and produced by Kontejner in collaboration with Sonic Acts as part of Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

The project was presented at Extravagant Bodies Festival in Zagreb in 2019.

Ljubavnice consists of six members: Tamara Bilankov, Hrvoslava Brkušić, Stella Leboš, Luana Lojić, Ivana Pipal and Ana Vuzdarić. They met at Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts and have been collaborating since then. They run an arts organisation with a focus on the interdisciplinary fusion of science and art. They intend to continue their work on the Seventh, upgrading her database, developing her further, expanding her existence
