FIRST INSIGHTS INTO THE MUSIC PROGRAMME

The Elevate music programme offers a platform for creative development and creates connections between different musical genres, generations and cultures.

Among the first confirmed acts are already numerous greats of the contemporary underground, such as the duo of the two Berliners-by-choice CEM b2b MCMLXXXV, who have been championing a more intimate and accessible club culture with their event series Herrensauna – based in Berlin’s legendary techno club Tresor since 2017. DJ Krush, who has been active since 1992, can be described as nothing less than an icon of this culture – familiar to most people from his countless collaborations with western hip-hop artists such as DJ Shadow, The Roots and Mos Def, as well as his excursions into avant-garde realms, for example with his compatriot and trumpeter extraordinaire Toshinori Kondo. DJ and musician Hudson Mohawke is a bit younger, but no less multifaceted. By his own admission, the involuntary pioneer of trap – in his own words: “for us it was a satire genre” – is celebrated in circles as the Aphex Twin of hip-hop. In addition to his own releases on the British label Warp Records, he has also produced music for artists such as Björk, Pusha T, Drake, Lil Wayne and Anohni.
