FieldARTS Symposium
Maritime Frictions
Unfolding over the course of a day and evening, the FieldARTS Symposium combines masterclasses by leading environmental humanities researchers, collaborative study sessions, and forays into the field led by an interdisciplinary team of artistic and scientific practitioners, culminating in a public-facing roundtable event and creative-critical publication collating work by participants. Sited by estuarine and offshore fields, FieldARTS offers a unique opportunity for students, scholars, and artists to co-create innovative and experimental approaches to situated research in the environmental humanities. FieldARTS is an annual residency designed for emerging scholars and artists engaged in environmental and artistic research. The intensive week-long program allows for collaborative knowledge creation in dialogue with experts both on and in the field. During the residency, participants are invited to attend extended field trips, lectures by key theorists in the field of environmental humanities, collaborative workshops, and public-facing roundtable discussions.
