KONTEJNER presents the fourth edition of Gibanja – a festival dedicated to experimental sound in Zagreb, Crotia.
Gibanja aims to be a place of gathering, shared experiences, critical approach, and open (h)ear(ing).

The 5-day festival showcases a forward-thinking programme consisting of sound installations, spatial sound works, film screenings, performances and more. The programme includes three presentations as part of Re-Imagine Europe:
Alexandre Babel’s multichannel work The Drift Between,  Judith Hamann’s performance Desire Paths, and a collaborative audiovisual performance by Kassel Jaeger and Eléonore Huisse titled Shifted in Dreams – Redreamed.

Gibanja festival – translating to Movements in English – is conceived to seek to follow movements in the contemporary music scene, to discover and present experimental sonic art practices with the intention of encouraging different ways of listening and to offer some new and different auditory experiences.

This year’s program brings recent spatial-sound creativity – multichannel electroacoustic compositions by Alexandre Babel, Judith Hamann and Ursula Winterauer, as well as music performed on different, DIY instruments such as electromagnetic velicon Jasna Velickovic and 3D-printer Merche Blasco and Biliana Voutchkova. Gibaja porgramme presents audiovisual works of French composer, director of INA GRM, François J. Bonnet of these Swiss saxophonists eventell, sound installation “Tipping Point”, for which Kathy Hinde received special recognition at Prix Ars Electronica, and an exciting exploration of the sound of the space of the KONTEJNER itself and its sound environment by award-winning sound artist Stijn Demeulenaere, drummer Ruben Ori and guitarist Primož Sukič.

Gibanja also presents abstract minimalism and ambient drone of the young aspiring musician Abigail Toll, and for the first time,  also a film projection – a poetic experimental documentary about electronic and drone music pioneer Éliana Radigue. And last but not least, the programme presents contemporary musical creation of Zagreb’s experimental scene: The Anti-Teleological Rock Combo – Leo Beslać, Luka Čapeta, Pavle Jovanović and Marco Quarantotto will promote the album to be released for the only Croatian experimental label Kopaton Records, founded by the Sykauz brothers. The younger brother Nenad opens the fourth edition of Gibanja with his nine-year-old son Rio.
