Workshop Warm Words – emotional processing of climate change

A4 presents: Workshop: “Warm Words” – emotional processing of climate change.
As the realities of climate change become increasingly urgent, so does the need to address the emotional responses they provoke. In this workshop, artist Jagoda Kwiatkowska offers a space for collective reading about the climate crisis, alongside guided reflection on our personal eco-anxieties.
Participants will explore the psychological impact of climate change, learn tools for emotional resilience, and take part in a collaborative process. Through reading, dialogue, writing, and voice recording, we aim to better understand both the inner and collective dimensions of eco-anxiety. Together, we imagine ways of moving forward—grounded in care and emotional awareness.
A core element of the workshop is engaging with three overarching climate narratives, inspired by the work of Joanna Macy: Business as usual, Great Unraveling, and Great Turning. These frameworks help participants identify the paradigms shaping their perspectives and actions. The group will reflect on how individuals and communities differ in their approaches to change—and how collective agency can be a powerful tool in the face of paralysis or despair.

Warm Words
This workshop is part of an artistic residency and extends the Warm Words performance, which will take place on 26 May. The performance explores climate-related trauma and self-regulation through sound, meditation, and ASMR. Following the devastating floods in 2024, the project takes on a deeply local dimension. As eco-anxiety and emotional paralysis around climate change become more widespread, the workshop draws on Joanna Macy’s philosophy to offer a space for shared emotional processing and transformation.
The workshop strengthens community and emotional resonance by actively involving participants in the creative process. Voice recordings made during the session will become part of the performance.
