Manka Lustigová – Interview with A4

This interview with Pardubice-based artist Manka Lustigová focuses on her two-month residency at A4, where she explored the acoustic properties of porcelain, particularly its thickness as a variable for sound and light. Fragile, translucent objects and layered reliefs form the core of the resulting performance, evoking microworlds, interdependence, and themes of survival, death, and mourning.

In the conversation, Lustigová discusses subtle, touch-activated sounds, the flow of electricity through copper as a living layer, and her broader practice of practice-based material research, DIY approaches, and sound installations, situating the residency within her wider artistic trajectory.

The event is an outcome of the artist’s residency at A4 within the VARP programme, supported by the International Visegrad Fund. The video is produced by A4 as part of New Perspectives for Action, a project by Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the European Union and supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council and Bratislava City Foundation.
