Sonic Acts Biennial 2024 – Expanded Experience Video Report

Expanded Experience is an evening of concerts and audio-visual screenings traditionally organised by Sonic Acts during the Biennial. This video is a compilation of the 2024 event, which immersed audiences in spectacular cinematic experiences.

On the 31-notes-per-octave Fokker organ, Marcin Pietruszewski presented his Sonic Acts-commissioned installation ‘Distortion Product Lattice’. Together with filmmaker Eléonore Huisse, Ina GRM director Kassel Jaeger reimagined his record ‘Shifted in Dreams’, while Ï Î (Lukas De Clerck & Victor Guaita Igual) performed Sarah Davachi’s score for viola and modified aulos – an ancient double-pipe reed instrument of Greek origin. In collaboration with visual alchemist Sevi Iko Dømochevsky, Aho Ssan recontextualised his album ‘Rhizomes’, General Magic ∞ Tina Frank took part in a live, audio-visual exchange, and Oliver Torr and Axonbody teamed up for a geometric experiment involving electromagnetic fields. Finally, Hugo Esquinca and Russell Haswell invited spectators to a special performance location – the venue’s loading dock! – for the fourth edition of ‘Cadáver Exquisito’. This programme was realised as part of New Perspectives for Action, a project by Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the European Union.
