Tianzhuo Chen – TRANCE Video Report at Sonic Acts Biennial 2024

Part rock concert, underground rave, and immersive theatre, ‘TRANCE’ is a 12-hour extravaganza orchestrated by visionary artist Tianzhuo Chen, founder of Asian Dope Boys. Presented by Sonic Acts and Hartwig Art Foundation at Paradiso Amsterdam for the Sonic Acts Biennial, the performance fused live music, dance, installation, and DJ sets, featuring artists including ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, Dis Fig, KIM KHAN, Kasimyn, and Ican Harem (Gabber Modus Operandi), among many others.

Beneath Paradiso’s stained glass windows, the space transformed into a surreal organism – real grass, tropical plants, water features, and a giant suspended tardigrade set the stage. Over six chapters, ‘TRANCE’ warped reality, dissolved identity, and stretched time into a state of ecstatic transformation.
