Ka Baird – video interview with A4
Composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer Ka Baird is one of the most innovative figures on the New York experimental scene.
Their inspirations include sacred flute music from New Guinea, chants from Budundi as well as Can, Maryanne Amacher and Don Cherry. In their captivating performances, Ka Baird pushes the boundaries of conventional genre forms, whether they use extended vocal techniques, flute or electronics complemented by ecstatic choreography. They have a new album coming out in March, again on the renowned RVNG Intl label.
The video is produced by A4 as part of New Perspectives for Action, a project by Re-Imagine Europe, co-funded by the European Union and supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council and Bratislava City Foundation.
The video was created also by volunteers, as part of a project supported by the European Solidarity Corps program.
