Mihkkal Hætta is a filmmaker exploring the landscapes, stories, and traditions of Sápmi. Through two short films and an artist presentation, he invites the audience to experience the deep connection between land, culture, and memory within Sámi storytelling traditions.

A Sámi short film that explores an alternative universe in Sápmi where the original knowledge has been wrested back from the colonizers. The film’s message is conveyed through open, meditative, and lingering images of various landscapes in Sápmi, taking the viewer on a journey to and from these lands.

Muorra is a short film that takes you on a journey through the lands of Sápmi, highlighting the raw power inherent in these areas. The connection between humans and the land has diminished over time, and this film shows that the link between the two is not as distant as one might think.

Mihkkal Hætta

Mihkkal Hætta is a young Sámi filmmaker from Guovdageaidnu in Finnmárku county, Northern Norway.. Hætta aims to introduce a completely new genre to the ever-growing selection of Sámi films. He has ambitious goals; he wants to bring the Sámi storytelling tradition to the screen and capture audiences’ hearts through Sámi arthouse films.
