Borealis Festival 2024 in the Guardian

Missed the Borealis 2024 edition? The Guardian has you covered! Dive in to the article by The Guardian’s Head of Culture Charlotte Higgins reflecting on Borealis’ 2024 focused on the Sámi experimental music and discourse here.

The piece features insights about works part of Re-Imagine Europe, such as a performance by Elina Waage Mikalsen and a sound installation by Ánndaris Rimpi. It also emphasizes the significance of experimentation with a tradition threatened by extinction for centuries.

Borealis Festival celebrates innovative experimental sound and music making from across Norway,  bringing together adventurous listeners in concert halls, on mountain tops, and in swimming pools to listen together. The 2024 festival edition was for the first time programmed in collaboration, this year with Sámi artist Elina Waage Mikalsen, bringing a whole programme of experimental Sámi artists together in a way that has never been done in Bergen before. With exhibitions, family events, conversations and immersive sonic experiences, Borealis opens up for different encounters with how art and music can help us explore the world around us.
